University of Tsukuba History
In October 1973, this university was established. A precursor was Tokyo University of Education which was established in 1872. This university was one of the oldest universities in Japan Tokyo Higher Normal School. The University of Tsukuba combined with the University of Library and Information Science in October 2002.
After that, the School of Library and Information Science and the Graduate School of Library and Information Media Studies were founded. It has provided numerous Nobel Prize winners as like Leo Esaki, Hideki Shirakawa, and Sin Itiro Tomonaga. Dr. Satoshi Omura was an assessor at the Tokyo University of Education.
