Social-Emotional Learning is a process through which persons learn and apply a set of societal, emotional and related skills such as behaviors and values that help direct students. It is the process of developing self awareness, self control and interpersonal skills that are essential for everyone. It helps to improve academics and reduce negative social behaviors like harassment and create positive atmosphere in the classroom.

1. Through Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the procedure of paying consideration in a particular way on purpose in the present moment non-judgmentally. Nowadays, we are hearing about the advantages of mindfulness for children. Increased attention can cause better performance academically and also enhances the emotional and social intelligence.

In this way, children are able to learn, look after for themselves and be aware of their own emotional needs. The practices of mindfulness help learners to focus on their breath, thoughts and the world around them. When they observe their thoughts and feelings then they have the freedom to choose how they will speak and act.

2. Explain that thoughts lead to feelings

According to research, it is observed that students who are more flexible are more academically successful. Flexible students are mindful of their thinking, understand their beliefs and are able to challenge their beliefs and thoughts to create positive outcomes. It is an important concept because we may not forever be able to influence what happens to us.

Many students are unconscious that their thoughts play an important role in influencing how they feel. As a teacher, you can help the students by listening for the emotion then helping your student understand where that emotion came from and how to regulate their thinking in a way that contributes to their social-emotional welfare.

3. Model Persistence & Determination

An important feature of social-emotional learning is the capability to achieve things in life. Many of the students endeavor to better themselves in some way whether they tries to seek to a skill or to achieve a valuable goal.

Effort and patience are the important things to teach each and every lesson to the students. Admire for effort is significant in social-emotional learning. Every student needs to encourage setting widen goals during lessons to feel a sense of achievement.

4. Listen with Empathy

Empathic listening is a well thought-out listening and questioning method that allows you to develop and increase relationships with understanding. The main part of social-emotional learning is an understanding of the significance of positive relationships.

All of us need to teach with empathy to have these relations. Educators have the capability to model empathy. They can encourage students to listen to others and then ask them to listen with empathy and understand how other students might be feeling.

5. Emphasize Gratitude

Gratitude is one of the significant aspects of well-being. It signifies that those who often express gratitude have more power, less stress and superior physical well-being.

Educators can use the appreciation wall to inspire gratitude in their students. Also, it can be used to encourage social-emotional well-being. There are a number of ways to enhance expression of gratitude. However, this requires that we teach ourselves to think differently.

6. Motivate Free Expression through the use of Art

As we know that, art is a superb way to express oneself and social-emotional skills may also be developed by the practice of art. The creation of art is a productive way to deal with stress. Further, working with associates may help in the expansion of abilities associated to cooperation, collaboration and interpersonal relationships. This is an opportunity to exercise both of the self-awareness and social awareness of anyone.
