National University of Singapore History
Tan Jiak Kim led a group of representatives of the Chinese and other non-European communities to appeal to the Governor of the Straits Settlement to begin a medical school in Singapore in 1904. It was distinguished by Anderson that there were many other petitions former which were not successful due to concerns over having a enough number of students and support from the local society.
This university was founded as a medical school which was known as the Straits Settlement and Federated Malay States Government Medical School. This school received a donation of almost $120,000 from King Edward VII Memorial Fund in 1912. In 1913, this school was renamed King Edward VII Medical School.
Again in 1921, it was renamed as King Edward VII College of Medicine. In 1928, Raffles College was founded to promote education in social sciences and arts. This college was merged with the King Edward VII College of Medicine in 1949 to form the University of Malaya.
Nanyang University was founded in 1955 on the background of the Chinese society in Singapore. With the merger of the University of Singapore and Nanyang University in 1980, The National University of Singapore was established.

Transportation
National University has a free Shuttle Bus system that operates the Bukit Timah and Kent Ridge campuses. The university started to organize electric buses in partnership with CDG in late 2022.
