Nanyang Technological University is one of the two major Singapore National Universities. It is a research university. Also, it is famous as NTU. NTU was established in 1981.
It is the 2nd oldest independent university in the country. This university is often ranked as top 30 universities in the world according to most major international rankings. The National University of Singapore is considered to be one of the two most distinguished universities in Singapore.
Nanyang Technological University History
Earlier to Singapore’s independence from the British in 1955, Nanyang University was founded south of the current Nanyang Technological University campus within the center of the present Yunnan Garden as its heart.
Although this university occupies the grounds of the previous Nanyang University and has a similar name it is not a direct continuance of that institution. The government of Singapore combined Nanyang University with the University of Singapore to form the present-day National University of Singapore.
In 1981, Nanyang Technological Institute which is a tertiary institution associated with the National University of Singapore was created to take over the Nanyang University campus. National Technology Institute was merged with the National Institute of Technology to form Nanyang Technological University in 1991.
Nanyang Technological University admitted students together with the affiliated National University of Singapore and charged the same fees.

Landscape and Architecture
This university has been listed as one of the most beautiful universities in the world. Also, it has been listed as 10 most beautiful universities in East Asia. Between 1981 and 1982 the Nanyang Technology Institute, the main campus of the university explains the building complex the so-called North Spine. It was officially opened in 1986.
Yunnan Garden Campus
The main campus of this university is 200 hectares which is located in the town of Jurong West. It is the largest university campus in Singapore. This campus has 24 residence halls for undergraduates and 2 graduate halls. In 1998, it was gazette as a National Monument and now overlooks the Yunnan Garden.
Novena Campus
Novena campus is the 3rd campus of the university. It is located close to the Tan Tock Seng Hospital in downtown Novena for medical teaching and research at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. In 2016, a new 20-story Clinical Sciences Building was completed.
Nanyang Technological University Undergraduate Halls
This university has 23 residence halls for undergraduates with a capacity of almost 500 and 659 residents. They provide accommodation for almost 14,000 local and international students with every freshman guaranteed a hostel room.
Every hall has facilities like Air Conditioned Reading Rooms, Lounges, Pantries, and Laundry Rooms with washing machines and dryers. Fresher students will be provided a room for 2 years.
Transportation
Transportation in this university is provided by campus shuttle buses. Campus Rider service associates the campus to the Pioneer MRT station.

The founding colleges involve Nanyang Business School, College of Engineering, Wee Kim Wee School of Communication, and the National Institute of Education which have been part of this university since 1991.
NTU and Imperial College London founded a new medical school named the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine on the Novena campus along 11 Mandalay Road in 2013. The university announced that Humanities and Social Sciences would be extended into 2 separate schools namely the School of Humanities and the School of Social Sciences in 2016.

This school is the largest business school in Singapore with more than 6,800 undergraduates and postgraduates. Also, it is a no 1 business school in Singapore.
