In 1900, Carnegie Mellon University was founded as Carnegie Technical School and then it became Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1912. It started 4 years of degree programs. Finally, it became Carnegie Mellon University in 1967.

Its Motto is My heart in the work. In 1913, Andrew Mellon and Richard B. CMU had 7 colleges and independent schools. Each governs its own policies and activities. The main campus of CMU is located five miles from Downtown Pittsburgh.

CMU is famous for its modern research in new fields of study. It enrolled a total of 15,818 students in 2021 out of which 7,308 were undergraduate students and 8,393 were postgraduate students from 117 countries.

In 2009, The Gates Hillman Complex was opened for residents. CMU has 318 offices, lecture halls, classrooms, and laboratories. It has 225 auditorium seats. The Wall Journal ranked CMU as # 1 in computer science and # in finance in 2010. Its founder’s names were Andrew Carnegie, Andrew Mellon and Richard B. Mellon.
