Kirori Mal College is a public element college of the University of Delhi. It was established in 1954. This college is also recognized as KMC. In the English language, its motto is We must keep the world alive and awakened.
History of the Kirori Mal College
This college was started as the Nirmala College. It was situated on Delhi Road. In the period of Partition facing problems relating to the staff, the management of the college changed.
It took over the trust founded by Seth Kirori Mal. This college shifted to its present location in 1954. The base of the college was commanded by Rajendra Prasad. He was also the first President of India. The structure of the campus was intended by the well-known architects Anand Apte and CSH Jhabvala.
This college started its completely developed functioning from 1956 to 1957. He was followed by Sarup Singh who later became the Professor and Head of the Department of English. This college was one of the institutions of the University of Delhi chosen for sports training.

At this college, the library has a collection of around about 150,000 books. It has the capability of almost 350 students. Further, the library offers contributions to 52 Journals across a variety of subjects with almost 30 general Periodicals, Magazines, and almost 16 Newspapers.
Especially, the college has created an enthusiastic Computer Room which is equipped with the latest version of JAWS. Moreover, the library maintains a considerable collection of almost 81 books in Braille with 22 Tape Records, 100 Audio Cassettes, and 25 I-Pods to support the educational requirements of the students.
Wellness Center
This college has its own KMC Wellness Center. At this center, the services of a Trained Counselor are given to the students and the staff for their benefit. Appointments with these counselors are fixed by Email WhatsApp or Phone.
Laboratories
This college has advanced, modern, well-resourced, and competently managed laboratories for all of the Science courses existing at this college as Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, and Physics. Further, the Department of Statistics and Geography at this college has its laboratories.
Hostel
At this college, the hostel is an integral part. It has almost 89 rooms with approximately 170 students from India and Abroad. The hostel adds the dimension of dynamism and commitment to the Academic and Extra-curricular atmosphere of the institution.
Only those students can apply for residence at the hostels of this college whose parents do not reside in Delhi. At this college, there is only a Boys Hostel but this college is making plans to open Girls Hostels also.
Academic Auditorium
The academic auditorium of this college has its history. In 1954, this auditorium was created with the formation of this college at its main building.
It has provided a launching platform for distinguished names in Theatre and Cinema such as Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Amitabh Bachchan, Satish Kaushik, and Ravi Baswani.
Peace Club
This club was formed in 2019 in response actively to increasing societal violence. The motto of this club is Peace Begins with Me.
It believes in encouraging the youth for Societal Progress. It arms them with the tools to promote inner peace and advocate for harmony locally and globally.
Seminar Rooms
The seminar room is a modern facility that exists at every equivalent institution. Seminars are to explain and aware the students with New Trends and developments in Academics and also in the Industrial Sector.
