History of the University of Geneva

In 1559, the university was established as the Academy of Geneva by French Theologian John Calvin as a Theological Seminary. It was managed by the Company of Pastors to be the center of public education in Protestant Geneva.

In 1565, this academy started the teaching of Law to educate but also the Judges for the state. The cool was restructured into a more worldwide arrangement during the French Annexation of Geneva from 1798 to 1813 with the introduction of Degrees and its partition in Faculties. The printoedure of innovation continuous into the Period of National Restoration
