History of the University of Gothenburg
In 1891, this university was established as the Gothenburg University College. It was granted a similar status as Lund University & Uppsala University in 1907 by the Swedish Government. It has fused with several formerly independent higher education institutions in the city.
This university is constantly extending its study profile. It was given the rights of a university by the Swedish Government in 1954 by the merger of the Gothenburg College with the Gothenburg Medical School.

This campus is almost a 5-minute walk from Gotaplatsen. It is the campus of Chalmers University of Technology but we hold Classes at this campus and also conduct research. This campus is the house of students who study Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, and Mathematics.
Campus Linne
This campus hosts the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication, the School of Global Studies, and the Department of Psychology. This campus is not distant from Linneplatsen as the name suggests.
Campus Lindholmen
This campus is in the Hisingen District. The area is growing gradually with New Housing, Offices, and Restaurants with its rich shipyard history.
IT Faculty comprises the Department of Applied Information Technology and the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Lindholmen. The Department of Computer Science &Engineering is a joint department among the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology.
