History of the Linkoping University
In the 1960s, the foundations of this university date back. The Swedish National Legislative Assembly determined to place some programs within the fields of Technology and Medicine in Linkoping in 1965. In 1967, a branch of Stockholm University was located in Linkoping which offered education in Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Humanities.
A unit for Medical Training and the Institute of Technology were formed in 1969 marking the beginning of the university. All of the activities were brought in 3 faculties in the Linkoping University College in 1970. This college was given the status of the university in 1975. It was renamed as Linkoping University.

University Hospital Campus
This campus is also known as Campus US. It is situated within walking distance of Linkoping Town Centre. It is not far from the beautiful oak woodlands at Tinnero.
This campus is incorporated with Linkoping University Hospital as the name suggests. You can find Education and Research in Medicine, Healthcare, and Public Health as well as some Technological Research nearby on Medicine.
Campus Norrkoping
This campus is centrally situated in the Industrial Landscape which is the old industrial town zone along the Motala River. Old buildings at this campus are filled with new contents.
At this campus, there are almost 5000 students who study everything from Healthcare and communication to Teaching and Engineering programs. There is a close bind atmosphere on campus and the different programs. It is close to the fantastic cultural city and entertainment life but also at the same time to water and green areas.
Campus Lidingo
At this campus, this university offers undergraduate programs in Furniture Design, Cabinet-Making, and Furniture Upholstery.
Carl Malmsten is one of the most famous furniture designers of Sweden and the programs combine practice and theory according to his Educational Motto which is Hand and Mind in Vital Collaboration.
