Campus at the University of Freiburg

Since the 15th Century, the buildings of the university are deeply knotted having grown with the city. The 3 large campuses are the University Center subsequently to the Historical City Center, the Institutes Quarter, and the Engineering Campus but other buildings can be found sprinkled all through Freiburg.

The Institute Quarter is home to the Science Faculties. This campus of the university was damaged completely in the Freiburg Bombing Raid in 1944.  Reconstruction of this institute began after World War II. Nowadays, it houses the Physics Buildings, the Tall Main Chemistry Building, and famous Institute for Macromolecular Chemistry, and the famous Pre-Clinical Institutes of the Faculty of Medicine.

The Engineering Campus of this university is next to the Small Freiburg Airfield to the northwest of the city center which is near to the University Medical Center. This campus is housed by the Department of Microsystems Engineering & the Department of Computer Science.

This university became the first Classical University to combine traditional disciplines with micro-systems technologies.

University Medical Hospital
